Roco Kingdom Breeding: Egg Groups and Compatibility

How Roco Kingdom breeding works: the 13 egg groups, parent requirements, what inherits, and the parts of the system the global beta does not explain.

Last Updated: 2026-10-27

Quick answer: breeding needs two Jinies of the same egg group and opposite sexes. There are 13 egg groups. The egg can hatch into either parent's base form, and the beta keeps the mother's species as the default. Breeding is not player-to-player: there is no trade or shared nursery, so every egg is produced on your own account.

The Breeding Loop

  1. Unlock the nursery through the story — it is not available at the start.
  2. Place two compatible Jinies in the nursery.
  3. Leave them for the required time; the beta shows a timer.
  4. Collect the egg and put it in the incubator.
  5. Hatch it by carrying it while you play.

The nursery does not consume the parents. You can take them out at any time, and the timer pauses rather than resetting.

Beta numbers

The global client shows a timer but Tencent has not published the underlying rates. This page does not quote step counts or coin costs for that reason.

Egg Groups

There are 13 groups. Only three have confirmed English names in the current build:

Egg group Confirmed members Notes
Animal Common mammals and reptiles The largest group in the Chinese build
Plant Flora-type species Includes seed and flower designs
Ocean Water-type species Fish, shells and aquatic mammals

The other ten groups are listed in the Chinese build but have no official English label yet. The practical way to check compatibility is the nursery UI: it shows a broken-link icon when two Jinies cannot breed, before you commit.

Compatibility Rules

  • Same egg group is required. A Jini can belong to two groups.
  • Opposite sexes are required. Genderless species cannot breed.
  • No legendary breeding. The three story legendaries have no egg record.
  • No same-species restriction in the beta; two copies of the same species can breed.
  • Level does not matter beyond the unlock requirement.

The beta does not show an "egg group" field on the Jini detail screen, which is the single biggest usability gap in the system. You have to test pairs at the nursery.

What Passes Down

Trait Inherits? Notes
Species One of the two parents Mother's line by default
Element From the species Not independently inherited
Moves Partly The beta marks inherited moves in the skill list
Nature Random No confirmed way to force it
Stats Random No IV or EV system has been shown
Colour variant Unknown No confirmed breeding path to chromatic forms

The absence of an IV system is good news: there is no hidden stat grind behind breeding, and two Jinies of the same species at the same level are interchangeable apart from nature and moves.

Breeding and Evolution

Hatched Jinies start at their base form. Breeding is the way to get a second copy of a one-per-save species, and it is the only reliable source of extra evolution material targets. The evolution guide covers the material side, and the eggs guide covers hatch timing.

Do not release the parent of a rare line. The nursery is the only way to replace it without a wild spawn, and some species have no wild spawn at all.

What Breeding Is For

  • Dex completion — species you cannot catch, or can only catch once
  • Nature hunting — hatching repeats until the nature you want appears
  • Move inheritance — passing a skill the base form cannot learn
  • Colour variants — if the chromatic system is confirmed at launch
  • Material farming — extra copies to evolve for lord bloodline paths

It is not a way to make money. Eggs are bound to the account and cannot be sold or traded.

FAQ

How many egg groups are in Roco Kingdom? Thirteen. Only Animal, Plant and Ocean have confirmed English names.

Can I breed two males? No. Breeding requires opposite sexes.

Can legendaries breed? No. They have no egg records.

Does the father's species matter? It can. The egg can hatch into either parent's base form, with the mother's line as the default.

Can I trade eggs? No. There is no player-to-player trading in the current build.
